Mountains and Seas Between Us Can Be Crossed

Mountains and seas may lie between me and the one I love, yet mountains and seas can be crossed.

Mountains and seas are easy to cross; the human heart is hard to calm.

Indeed, however steep the world’s mountains and rivers are, with courage and perseverance they can always be crossed. But the human heart is complicated: desire, emotion and obsession are tangled together, and it is often the hardest thing to see through or understand. The rise and fall of the heart, its wavering, is often harder to settle than any obstacle, and sometimes we cannot fully control even our own.

The distance of mountains and seas can be overcome, but the changes of the heart are hard to master. In reality, love faces not only outside difficulties but also inner struggle and hesitation. Loving someone takes courage and conviction, and also means facing the changes and uncertainty within. That contradiction and complexity is a true picture of human feeling.
